A new TV spot by Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi in Argentina for their client Norte beer is fun to watch. But then, a lot beer spots are fun to watch. What makes this one different isn’t the script, actors, direction or production quality. It’s an ice bucket.

This is an execellent example of how tech and trend meet to produce a highly relevant brand message that is worth advertising and sharing.

Norte and Del Campo have developed a beer cooler for use in night clubs. Not impressed? Well this cooler can detect the flash signal from cameras and cell phones in 360° and counter with its own blinding flash that whites-out the photo. No more waking up Sunday morning to find yourself hungover and tagged on Facebook. Fast Company reports that the technology is the real deal.

This is not the fist time Del Campo has stretched the envelop of beer company premiums beyond the realm of coasters and can cozies. These are the same folks who brought Argentinians the Teletransporter.  The Photoblocker is a good example of the type of brand building concepts that tech-savvy creative teams are producing outside the remit of tradition ad agency work (see Advertising Agencies: Kiss Your Creative Teams Goodbye). Oh, and the spot is pretty funny too.
